Anyone else hear of a nationwide shortage of bicarb and acid? We have been having issue with our 2k jugs being on back order. I'm on several Dialysis related FB pages and I'm seeing a lot of posts saying units are without and don't know where to find it.

What I've heard is that it's only Fresenius products.

We still use Medivators/Minntech and we've had no issues. I hope we don't.

What I've heard is that it's only Fresenius products. This is correct and accurate. I kid you not, right now they have biomeds working in the manufacturing plant in order to ensure granuflo production. COVID hit the plants and drivers hard, this is very dire.

That's perfect. It's all that we use. I feel like this is going to be like the toilet paper issue. I'm not going to panic just yet but.....

As stated by another; it wasn’t just lack of manpower but also ingredients stuck on container ships. It’s crisis level, including talks of adjusting flow rates to conserve and simply having to swap baths.

We were told it was manpower and supplies to make the product as well. Manpower being the bigger reason of the two but who knows since it's Fresenius. We ordered 8 drums and received 0 . We have already adjusted to running everyone at 500 dfr and will shorten treatments of patients who can tolerate it if needed. They are trying to figure out how many we need to stay running and creating a triage list...at least my rep is. Bicarb, dialyzers and saline have not YET been affected for us.

I feel bad for anyone with little to no storage room because I try to keep at least 4 drums on hand in case a delivery does not come and that does not count what I have in the 300 gallon tank.

This is likely going to affect everyone whether they use Fresenius products or not. Probably even worse than last year when they screwed up the sodium levels since this is affecting Granuflo also.

Where it screws us is our acute programs. In those we use strictly gallon jugs and unfortunately its NaturaLyte, only because Fresenius does weekly deliveries.

Is this still isolated to a certain region?
I'm in the southeast and have yet to hear much or be impacted by any of this, but we use FMC products very heavily here.

Yeah We have a small acute also but we buy a drum and pump it into jugs. Citrasate and other special baths are single use but the K2 is a drum. We are lucky though that the receiving area has a spot we can stash a drum or two until it is needed.

i wonder if the chemistries for the patients running at 500 flow will be ok. all the studies i have heard about say that 800 flow is just wasting concentrate
