The "aseptic priming" function that they refer to appears to be basically the same as the WHO device on a Phoenix machine. I didn't see anything about it producing saline. Pretty much everything else the mention is pretty standard stuff.

This was over the winter.

These machines are available in the US. The US version does not produce its own saline.

It is supposedly in the pipeline for the machine to create saline but the last time I talked to them it was still aways away which means it might not happen at all. That seems like a hard thing to get the blessing from the dialysis gods for. Curious what extra testing and monitoring you would have to do to make sure its safe.

upon further reading the machine does not produce saline but can prime the blood lines using dialysate or DIF(dialysate infusion function). the dialysate can then be infused or the machine can be set to use a CTS(clean treatment start)i.e. removing fluid from bloodline. I do not know its availability for use in USA

And unfortunately this information is wrong. the "WHO door" is a waste handling option used solely for the purpose to collect excess saline from priming which is then discarded. see post below about the Sundialx function

This goes back to the C3. The waste handling option seemed like a good idea at the time. Then there was an outbreak of infections linked to the WHO. Gambro had to change the setup procedure to check the WHO for any back flow and to disinfect the WHO on a regular basis. I can't remember the exact details.

Yes we currently have phoenix machines at an acute location and do not use the who door for this reason. better safe then sorry
