Hi All,
the hospital i worked in don't use CRRT machine in the emergency or ICU wards.
Instead a normal dialysis machine (Fresenius) with portable RO connected to main water supply via water tap adaptor.
Only CRRT I aware of are
1) Baxter Prismaflex
2) Fresenius Multifiltrate
3) Nikkiso Aquarius
4) Bbraun Diapact 5) NxStage
Is Baxter Prismaflex the most common one ? Thank you

The acute program here uses the Prismaflex for CRRT, currently have 20 machines in use. The NxStage, although initially designed for CRRT, is used here exclusively for Home Hemo.

bimitiri...I cover 12 hospitals and each one has NxStage machines in them and are very reliable. We previously had the older Prismaflex machines but had numerous issues with the scales.

My hospital has 2 Prismax and day one of using it, it was a out of box failure. soon after each month we had numerous issues with scales, machine not communicating, blood warmer not working, cartage filter holder separating from the actual machine. It has been 2 years with them and we have not been able to continue a treatment without a issue happening. Spoke to so many reps and they say there isn't nothing they can do except "stay on contract" for repairs. I hear alot of great things about the NXstage.

Tablo needs to be added to this list. It does 24 hour runs, called extended treatment, same as crrt and is way easier to learn and use.

Well, just when we thought we knew it all, a new stranger peeks into the world of dialysis CRRT machines. Dialco.ca has a CA/USA approved CRRT machine (SAMI) on the market. And as an FYI, their HOME HD unit is called DIMI.

Now if someone would come out with a HD machine that has a pediatric approval.

From a manufacturer's point of view of the US market, it is not profitable to build/modify a current HD machine for pediatrics since the FDA has revised the requirements to provide advanced analysis and specialized survey data to justify the machine. With low volume, continuous slow dialysis with CRRT machines, it is a money pit for a manufacturer. Just like the H.E.L.P. machine was removed from the US market, because of a ruling from the FDA that heparin now had to be under tight restrictions for shipping and storage. Can't really fight the regulation makers, no matter how many people get injured by their unelected foibles.
