We have a 2 year old softener that is giving us problems... At first, it wasn't completely refilling the brine tank with water after regeneration. We checked the injector and brine valve and all seemed good so, we increased the refill time. The next day after it regenerated, it not only didn't refill the brine tank completely but it also didn't flush the brine out of the softener. We rebuilt the control head and the next day, the same thing.
Thoughts?

I think I would stay with it as it goes through a complete regeneration cycle and monitor it. If you don't catch it as it is malfunctioning, I don't know what else you can do. Depending on when your dialysis unit closes for the day, it's a great way to spend a Sunday.

I have been thinking about this one. Is it possible something is restricting flow? The only things I can think of for brine in the tank are restricted flow during rinse, salt hanging up somewhere or a bad timer.
Please post what you find.

Do you have a float assy in the brine tank? The problem I had was just the opposite (Overfilling), but thought I'd throw it in as a possibility.

Small Update: I watched an entire regeneration cycle (It was painful). Everything seemed fine until it got to the point of refilling the brine tank. That seemed to go slower than I thought it should and it only finished (brine float satisfied) 3 minutes before the end of its programmed cycle. After about 5 minutes, I noticed that the brine float was no longer all the way up and based on the wet mark on the side of the tank, the water level had dropped about 3/4". This at least explains why the tank appeared to not be filling completely and there being brine left in the media tank.
What's wrong with it I haven't a clue but, the only thing I can think of causing it is something in the brine control valve. Now it's just a matter of getting one from Marcor.

I know this is going to sound weird but it happened to me once before. Check the brass casting to make sure there are no holes. The water flow and salt could have created a small hole preventing suction. Rare but it happened to us once before. Wish I saved that head.

The company I got the new head from actually had one that they showed me. I checked ours but it was fine.

Sorry to open up an old post again but I have a similar problem, my brine tank is not refilling correctly. There are some days like today where there is absolutely no water in the brine tank but yesterday the tank was filled with water. This seems to happen every other day so I am getting ready to spend the day on Sunday to take apart the brine tank remove the float clean the the brine line....is there anything else I should be doing or looking for? I am hoping for a simple fix like just replacing the float BUT we all know that wont happen any suggestions would be appreciated

If you haven't already, I would replace the brine valve on the control head.
