I have an Specialty Water pretreatment setup with an Aqua B RO. I have ran into a problem and I'm not sure what's going on. So during the day I have no issues with delta pressures at all. All delta pressures are 0-4psi. I have been getting "Softener Delta Pressure LOW" on my display in the mornings. I ran the softener through a regeneration cycle today and there were no delta pressure issues at that time. When I put one of my carbon tanks in back wash the delta pressure across the softener went up to 32psi and all other delta pressures are normal. I have rebuilt the head and thought maybe the problem was there but I didn't find any issues at that time. I am thinking there must be a blockage in the tube going into the tank. The softener is only 4 years old but I am not sure how long the media normally last. I welcome and thoughts are ideas. Thank You..

I am just thinking out loud. It seems like when you have maximum flow through the softener, the delta goes high. I am assuming your carbon tanks are downstream from the softener. I am also assuming some of your carbon tanks backwash every night. Before this problem developed, did you ever check the delta across the softener when carbon tanks were in backwash? It's tough to know what normal is for your system. Do you know how low the softener pressure has to go before you get the "Softener Delta Pressure Low"?
If the resin was bad, you would think you would see a higher delta pressure under normal operating conditions, but if the delta pressure is higher than ever under maximum flow, I don't know what else it could be.

4 years is not outside of the norm for a softener in front of the carbons. It’s not infrequent for me to have to rebed every 2 depending on the clinic.
My money is on your resin is progressively breaking down to the consistency of applesauce and it would be best to replace the media.
