use repair instructions chapter 5 in service manual it goes thru step by step action taken by machine and lls failure code use tsm mode test 1.27 DFS pressure test of therapy to help diagnose and pinpoint failure

<Zombie> He has a Version 8 machine. Close but different. <Jazz> There is no VLA test in a Version 8. If there is overpressure shown on PDA, VLA is closed. Test for DFS is in Chapter 3 of the 2003 service manual. 12000 is the start (may appear as 12010, the SM didn't always give all the steps). 12200 is the LLC step for Pressure build-up VDABK. FPE = 500 ml x rpm FPA = 10 ml x rpm VALVES: VEBK; VDEBK; VABK (1/2) ...Opened VDABK (1/2) ......................Closed VDE; VDA; VBP ..................Opened PDA > or = +425 mmHg for 1 s or timeout 60s.
So if you cannot build up pressure: Leaking VLA - pressure test it. TSM Test 1.27 run test and occlude tubing to VDABK1. If it passes, bad VDABK1. Repeat for VDABK2.
Also, pressure test UF Piston Pump (everyone overlooks that).
Last: TSM test 1.13: OPEN VEBK1 and VABK1. Split the tubing at FBK1 and attach a 60 CC syringe filled with water to the tubing going to the BC. Press the ALARM Silence button and watch the membrane position values. Now slowly press the plunger. The Membrane should move towards 16000. Once there, you should feel resistance. If not, you have a hole in your membrane. If good, (refill syringe if needed) open VEBK2 and VABK2 and repeat pressure test. If resistance is met at 16000, your membrane is dood, if no resistance, you have a bad membrane.
Note that if VEBK and VABK are open, a tear in the membrane allows your pressure build-up to go straight to drain.
