Good Morning everyone I was wondering what everyone uses to interface with their EMR? Which program/software do we use(We use Infian) And does anyone use BSL modules or do you use the DCI cable? I will have some follow up questions afterwards I'm sure but just wondering this for starters Thanks in advance

We use DCI cables and I'm pretty sure it interfaces directly with our EMR (ClinicalVision from CCI). Other than installing the DCI and assigning it's ID #, everything else is done by IT. If you don't know Steve Myers, ask Tech Support to put you in touch with him....He's their interface guru.

We use DCI cables. We also use Infian EMR. We have the DDI software on one of our nurse station computers at each facility. Seems to work fine.

Correct, I do know we don't have the BSL module. The machine collects more treatment data than what crosses over DCI. My understanding is that BSL will cross everything you want. When we started with the interface, the patient's MAP wasn't monitored. When we started monitoring it we found out that DCI wouldn't send it. Before you decide on DCI or BSL, make sure the added data is worth the added cost of the BSL module.

All five of our facilities have 12 stations. I'm not an IT guy, but I know enough to be dangerous. We have a 16-port Digiport server that collects the tx data from each of the machines in use. That data is sent to the DDI (Dialog Data Interface) software that is on our nurse station computer. There is a small 4-port Digi connected to that computer that sends the tx data to our server that has the Infian EMR.

An FYI: Some people invest in a BSL (pricey) as an ethernet option, whereas DCI (less costly) is a serial communications option. The DCI has two protocols: MPI 0.12 and MPI 0.13, the difference being the 0.13 includes extended data (currently only Adimea) that is sent along with all of the legacy (0.12) data. But the HOST EMR system MUST be capable of receiving and processing that data or it will error out.
Another item worth mentioning. Because DCI is serial data, and the ethernet is, well TCP/IP based, the DCI data must be converted to be compatible. In serial communications, the smallest string that is valid for transfer is 1 bit. Since a WORD is 8 bits and a data string needs a start/length/begin data/data/end data/end of text/CRC [sometimes]/ACKorNAK structure, it must be converted into TCP/IP packet of data. That is the purpose of a Serial Port Server (some people have a Digibox, but there are others in the commercial marketplace).
And lastly, while DDI (Dialog Data Interface) has been a mainstay for a long time, if Infian/TIME is your host EMR, they now can direct connect to your Serial Port Server. That is a discussion that you can make directly to Infian.
