Does anyone know how the machine monitors for this alarm? People have suggestions on how to fix it, but it might be helpful to know what triggers it.

Replaced 39. Still have intermittent flow error. I have tried about everything except looking at boards

run it until the alarm is constant

I know you said you replaced the motor brushes, but what about your deaeration pressure? Is it within specs?
Before I started changing boards, I would go through the troubleshooting section on Flow Recirc Error 1. It looks like a royal PITA, but it's not that bad. It will lead you into troubleshooting the valves that people have suggested here.
There is a tech on You Tube who has several videos on Flow Recirc Error 1. He seems to know his stuff. Unfortunately, even though he speaks fluent English, his videos are in Tagalog.

Most cases its the heat exchanger. Have even seen transduer 9 cause this same problem. With those hours I would highly doubt its a valve issue. Try heat exchanger first.

in cleaning modes the flow is determined by transducer 9 and valve 31 do you get any errors in rinse follow advise from above and go thru ts guide

i would open/ohm all top side valves . in this case i would sometimes see V25,26, 24 and even 43 give me this issue... have also come across actuator board causing issue.

I think the machine is looking at the dialysate pressure in cleaning modes, if it is not what the machine wants, you get the alarm. Unfortunately, I have never seen any Fresenius info on WHAT, EXACTLY, the pressure is supposed to be (zero? negative? positive?). Anything that can affect the the pressure where the dialysate pressure sensor is located, can cause this alarm. Years ago, it was often the dialysate pressure sensor itself, but I haven't seen that in years. Heat exchanger can cause it if there is a leak. Fresenius once told me to check these valves in order: 29,43,39,24,25.26. After that, "it could be any valve in the machine." I have seen the water valve and/or the float cause it, as well as balancing chamber valves. For sure, you need to check ALL pressures including TMP calibration and make sure they are good (any problem here can cause the problem). I have seen a very slow drip/leak from the diasafe holder cause the problem. Like someone said above, use the troubleshooting guide, sometimes it can find the problem for this alarm (not always).

For sure, if the alarm does not occur until well into the heat disinfect cycle, suspect a valve (and sometimes the flow and deaer motors/pump heads can change when they get hot).

I had this issue before and it was my loading pressure valve given it was a T-machine.

I just had this same issue on a machine with less than 8k hours and mine after troubleshooting and replacements ended up being CFS9. We have had a few in our area that ended up being the Loading Pressure Regulator but this was not the fix for my particular machine. Hope this helps.
