Hello
Do anyone have tips for changing out the IV pole in the solcart holder? I have change these out before but it is difficult to get the pole out because of dried up bicarbanote in the bottom. I thought I should try to get some RO water soaking around the pole but I do not know if there is a better method.
thank you

I have found I usually need to replace the lower bicart arm and the pole at the same time. If I am exchanging the pole but want to reuse the upper bicart arm, I knock the pin out that holds the spring on the upper part of the pole. Then I can slip the upper bicart arm off the top. If just replacing the lower part of arm. I find it easiest to remove the whole assembly still. Remove the retaining bolt and the inner workings, then just hit the lower bicart arm with hammer.

Note: there are two different Cartridge holders, and the newest one is not backwards compatible.Be careful if you just replace the bottom. Refer to the newest Service Manual, Rev 1.02.00. Soaking in a bucket of water with some citric acid added will quickly dissolve the bicarbonate, but it may harm the wires of the reed sensor. So have one available as a replacement.

Hello
Thank you for the help on this. I have change many of these but the workers keep breaking them and the pole will not stay in place. If you lift it it just falls down. Do anyone have a understanding of why this happen and if it can be prevented?

You really need to just replace entire pole. I changed a few once that the bottom half of the pole was full of what I assume was bleach water. Probably from the staff cleaning the pole after treatment. I think that bleach water may be damaging the "latch" inside that holds the top section up. I believe the new version IV pole has a better seal/grommet between the pole sections to eliminate this.

<Malodey> It sounds like the typical problem of the 4-leg cap style infusion pole. Those are now obsolete and can no longer be obtained. The current infusion pole is a tri-top and the slider is sealed against bleach infusion. Your team is trying to do a great job of disinfection control, but they are using "wet" cloths instead of the manufacturer's recommended "damp" cloth. I wouldn't be surprised if you also start losing front panel boards from your team slathering bleach water on the monitor screen. You can tell by peeling bezel paint and white stuff at the bottom of the monitor screen.
CAUTION: The new infusion pole comes with the top hat removed. Where it screws in is no longer a threaded insert. It is an unthreaded plastic insert. You must apply a little pressure to start the top hat to screw into the plastic insert. However, if you apply too much pressure, you might just push the insert down into the pole and then the top hat won't reach the insert. Just be reasonable with the pressure.
