I have heard that all machines in the acute setting must disinfect the machine intake line at least monthly. Is this true and where can I find the standard to show my boss?

Refer them to V-220 and AAMI RD52:2004 7.1

In Annex G.4, Special considerations for acute hemodialysis, AAMI also suggests using opaque tubing if it is approved by the manufacturer.

This is true, and if you contact Medical Solutions in Kansas City their owner Jack Dillon is working on a machine make this process easy. With many portables being heat disinfect now meeting this standard can be difficult, but the machine at Medical Solutions simplifies it quite a bit.

I have deleted a post in which I quoted from the "Acute Dialysis Survey Readiness Handbook". There are a couple of errors in this handbook. The handbook is included with ISO 23500, but it appears it was not formally reviewed by the AAMI Renal Disease and Detoxification Committee.

The lead author of that handbook has been known to try to pass her opinions off as regulation.
