I have a few machines that will give me an error stating emptying to long while emptying bibag. You are only able to see this heading if there is a dummy in air detector. Tech support has been no help as to why this is happening or how to fix it. 9T0S machines with blue star. Any input would be appreciated.

Check your hansen hose. if they are not connected properly it can cause the emptying to long banner. Also check your shunt door.

BIBAG EMPTY • The bibag empty procedure removes the liquid solution from the bag to make disposal of the used bag easier and cleaner. To empty the bag, valves 100, 103 and 105 are closed while the balancing chamber and valves 104 and 108 are opened. • The flow pump runs to suck solution from the bag and send it out the drain. • During the emptying process, the hydraulics are kept in bypass. When the empty cycle is complete, the operator is notified, normal balance chamber switching resumes, but the hydraulics remain in bypass until a new bag is installed and correct conductivity of the dialysate returns. • NOTE: The empty bibag feature cannot be used when blood is sensed, the Tx Clock is running, or during a "bibag: Bag Leak" alarm.

How does the machine know when the bag is empty?

Maybe the Air Separator or pressure transducer senses the change.

Check your hansen hose. If they are not connected properly it can cause the emptying to long banner. I agree with Pacnw on this one. In my experience, 9 times out of 10 it is the staff not having the hansons connected enough to create a proper seal. Is the machine giving you any other issues aside from the emptying too long banner? Anything that can help you narrow down where the problem area might be? I try not to assume user error unless I can say I've given the machine a good look.

This is for BI BAG emptying not dialyzer emptying. My question is how does the machine know when the Bibag is empty. It has nothing to do with hanson lines.

let me preface this by saying i do o know bibag a whole lot.
Isnt there pressure transducers that measure the presure so the bag does not burst? If those pressures goto 0 or negative then machine says stop emptying?
On a regular T/K machine, if a tech puts the dialyzer caps on the empty hason ports(why? because they can), then an emptying > than 10 times error will pop up. I say this because if the hason switch is messed up, then all kinds of crazy could happen

I'm not 100 percent sure how it knows that it is empty, it could be pressure transducer 110 or by measuring the bicarb condo/temp cell? I would take a look at pressure transducer 110 to see if that is working okay. A quick check is to try doing the regulator pressure calibration in service mode and see if you get an error. Could also take a look at your bicarb connector and make sure that is good. Sometimes if its not plugged in all the way that can cause it. Could also be an issue with your bi-carb pump as well since that's what sucks the fluid out of the bi-bag. Another thing you could do is do a bi-bag empty on a known good machine to see what valve are supposed to be open and closed when running properly and then do it on the faulty machine and check to see if it matches. Also check out debug 15 which has all the relevant info related to the bi-bag while doing the bi-bag emptying procedure double check that as well against what the good machine does.
