Is there a way to take a valve by itself and test it on the bench to make sure the solenoid is working and plunger is working? I think i thought i heard using a 9volt battery would engage it but I do not have enough parts to "test" and mess it up.

You'll need 2 9V batteries & a valve wiring harness. If you buy new valves from FMC they'll come with the wiring harness. What I do is clip the wires off the end that goes to the dist board. I connect the 2 9V batteries together, connect the wiring harness to the valve & put the clipped lead ends on the pos/neg battery terminals. You will hear the solenoid activate. It'll make a clicking/popping sound.
If you don't have extra wire harness to do this; with the machine in dialysis mode & flow turned off. You can connect the wire harness from V25 to the valve that you want to test. V25 is always on so you'll get the voltage to test the valve by just placing the connectors on the valve leads.
What chuck listed works as well but get the one that has the alligator clips; that's what you want. H&S technical makes a voltage controller kit called BTA-612.

To Add to Guest's comment I like to use 2 battery boxes (9 Volt battery holder) on the back of our Fresenius machine and and wire them together achieving 18 Volts. This way when the batteries die I just have to swap them out without havng to re-solder everything. Works like a champ! I also take a electrical spade connector and solder a piece of a paperclip to create a post. This way I can check valves at the distribution board by just unplugging the valve and touching the connectors to the correct spots to listen to the valve cycle. Very easy way to identify if the valve is frozen. Bad part is it doesn't tell you if one of the black rubber buttons has fallen off or is worn out. It only helps with a frozen valve.....

also be aware that often the valve guide will unscrew from the plunger so even though it actuates it is still blocked because it cannot open far enough you can take the valve apart and see if ther is any corrosion and if the poppet has unscrewed you can screw in by crasping the white plate with your finger and turning

H&S sells a tester I believe for a balance chamber. If it’s individual I would just ohm out the valve
