This was a weird cause so I thought I would share.
We have a Version 9 machine that despite being 13 years old only has 13K hours (3X/week clinic). The staff reported the machine having a Solution Intake Failure alarm. Upon investigation we found that it had actually been occurring almost every day since the middle of December but it was never reported because each time they would try again and it would be fine.
We traced the problem to the level sensor but, that isn't the weird part..... We found that the level sensor only had a nut on the outside so it was just hanging loose in the upline tank and would get stuck on the heat exchanger. This still isn't the weird part......
Looking back at the machine repairs, other than PM's that machine had only been serviced 3 times....absolutely not uncommon for Braun machines so STILL not weird......
I won't make you wait any longer...... The 3 times the machine was serviced was 1 - replaced the dialyzer holder mounting plate, 1 - PDA sensor, and 1 - A/V level block.....none of which would require the upline tank to be opened much less messing with the level sensor. Our only conclusion is that the machine came over from Germany like this and was evidently secure enough that it didn't cause any issues.

<C.W.> Unfortunately, it sometimes happens with new hires. One of my customers reported that over half of their new machines were having Bic Cartridge not connected correctly random alarms. They finally found the problem: The infusion pole set screw was not tightened, allowing the pole to move up slightly. Caused all sorts of problems but mostly the "not connected" alarm. Same problem source.

<S.C.E> We had that exact same problem with a batch of Version 8 machines. An issue we're having now with new machines is that the wires coming up to the screen are too tight and one ends up working loose from the front panel board.

Be advised that we are diligently working to get the monitor LVDS cable problem resolved. We should be seeing some results by mid-March. This had become a primary project, world wide.

Good news on the monitor cable. I've had to replace 4. A few I was able to fix by pushing the pins in better on the end that plugs into the monitor. Then I cut some ties, loosen it, and retie it. Then a dab of silicone on the plug to hold it in place. I think I got 4 working like that. I notice the pins are not always pushed to the end so if it wiggles a little it loses connection.

And here when I complained about it I was told nobody else was having the issue. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone and have been talking to Fresenius!

When we received the first batch 14 months ago Diana came to fix one and she showed me what was happening and that they knew about it. After that any of them that went bad, I fixed or ordered them under warranty so I never really contacted anyone because She mentioned it and they mentioned it in class. 13 months ago lol.

<joey>, <C.W.> There were replacement cables made and available for last years' machines. But even though they were made longer, they still caused problems. So a new cable (different connectors) is being made. This will replace all previous versions. We just do not have any yet, in stock.
As for cables being tight in the monitor neck... ? Cut, release the tension then retie. They are not going to remake all the FPB cables.

I do think that the silicone helps prevent reoccurrence.

<kendec65> It must be electrically safe. Most silicon from hardware stores will not qualify because they use acetic acid to cure. You should get the type that is safe for electronics. Check electronic distributors.
