First I would like to know what Fresenius BioMed's repair on O2 Concentrators? I have replaced the ac plug on an O2 Concentrator today. I am not sure how to check to make sure it is safe for patient use. I complete Electrical leakage testing on machines every month. The thing is with the concentrator only having 2 prongs without the ground pin. I am not sure how to test it for safety. I have a BC SA2005 meter. Please send me in the right direction if you would. Thanks..

My company says just because i am an equipment tech i was automatically trained on these. LOL! we have a 3rd party come out to do ours, but they want to stop doing that because it costs money.
Well so does working on medical equipment and not being certified.

I agree.. I'm not willing to hurt a patient just to get a O2 concentrator working when they can use a tank. I was just mainly curious on how to check a 2 prong plug. I haven't ever done any checks on those type of plugs. I figured if they can do it then it should be possible with our meters as well. Thanks for you help..

Did anyone actually answer biomedfossil's question? How do you perform an electrical safety check on a 2 prong plug?

I looked at ours and they are 3-prong. Quite frankly, I thought all medical equipment had to be grounded.

I have seen oxygen concentrators that are double insulated. I believe they are electrical class II type B devices. If somebody damaged a plug, we had to open up the concentrator and replace the power cord and plug. The power cord and plug were sold as one unit.

I decided to go the safe route.. I have to many bill collectors to take a chance of doing the wrong thing. I am joking of course but my main concern is the patient and I just don't think it's worth it to mess with it. Thanks for all of the input..
