Someone once told me if you check the continuity/resistance on 2 leads of the plugs it clears/indicates a good/bad Power Switch, Bridge rectifier and/or something else.
So I've been told this and for the life of me cant remember what it is diagnosing, and what leads I'm testing, or the results I'm looking for.
Anyone know what I'm talking about and clear up this mess of a memory?

Continuity Test -(audible alram for shorts/opens) Not quite sure on what components this can check from the outlet. What it is doing is checking for an open circuit(broken wire) from 1 prong to the other.
I am not sure why it would be checking the bridge rectifier. This component converts AC to DC voltages. You could test the component by itself with this easy. Just not sure about through the power cord.
The fuses is another can be tested individually, the transformer, the ground wires, the ribbon cables, valve and motor wires.
I use it on individual components just not through the power cord, there would be to much to could be.
Resistance This can tell you if something is shorted out or has an open. It measure how hard it is to push electricity through that component
A good example when you check your heater rod resistance. Blue and brown have a heater element between them, resistance here should be around 11.4(+/-0.2), if the element in the rod is burnt out this would be an OL(out of limit).
Your blue and brown will always be OL to the green wire because it(green wire) is a ground and you do not want your electrical path to be going straight to ground. This would be a short and will trip breakers and fuses.
A lot of things can be tested for resistance. The key factor is knowing what a good resistance should be for that component.
Like valves, or thermistors at specific temps., transformer connections, motor windings(those copper bits in your flow/degas motor)

It checks the main power switch and the 3 fuses in the power supply module. "OL" or Open Line would indicate that one of them is bad. If you get a numeric reading in ohms then they are all good.
