I am trying to think of the greatest advances in dialysis technology in the past 20 years, and I can't think of many.
Volumetric control and bicarb dialysis were developed in the 20th century.
Now we have auto heat disinfect, are able to scan patient information, and have bibag, but I can't think of many changes that improved the quality or safety of dialysis.
Anyone else?

<dave74> Changing from Acetate to three stream (with bicarb) dialysis removed a lot of vomit bags from clinics and improved people's well being.

Renalin, Micro-X, Minncare, Peracidin, etc. Anyone else remember using formaldehyde to disinfect with?
Bicart and Solcart for bicarb. I'm sorry Fresenius but, bibags are 3 steps backwards.

Not really technology, but getting dialyzers to a price where dialysis facilities do do away with reuse.
CMS coming out with interpretive guidance for surveyors with V-tags that people could easily reference.
