We have a VERY large patient who the MD has ordered a 13 ml heparin bolus for. My nurses claim that the old Version 8 machines would allow them to program that (?) but our new Version 9.1.B machines won't accept anything over 10 ml.
I thought that this may have been a System Configuration setting that we missed but I don't see anything for this in Heparin or Min/Max settings.
Am I missing something?

This is from the IFU for the Version 8.3x Dialog. As you can see, it is exactly the same as the 9.1x IFU. It has never been allowed to program a bolus of greater than 10mL.
The only workaround is to initially give a 10mL bolus followed by a 3mL bolus (or a 6/7, 8/5 or 9/4 ).

I don't doubt that the Version 8's had the same 10 ml bolus limit, I'm going by what the nurse told me. We still have 1 facility that has Version 8 machines and I will try to remember to check them.

While my first post was actually describing the limits of the heparin pump, let me use this figure, again from the Ver. 8.3x IFU which is the part for setting up a treatment. As you can see, it also includes the range allowed, both for the bolus and the hourly delivery.
The range is limited to a maximum of 10ml/hr.
You shouldn't have to make that trip unless there are some outstanding crab cakes locally.
