In one of my clinics we have a constant problem with broken ethernet ports on the wall behind machines. I believe the problem is when the patient chair is leaned back. I don't have this problem at any other clinic.
I have been trying to come up with a idea with no success. My most recent idea is cutting a small block of 2x4 and placing it right above the port. I think it would protect the port when the chair is leaned back. If I decide to go with this plan. Is there any thing special I will have to do? Is there a special paint I would have to use? Thank you for all your help.

see if you can get something like that in plastic or fiberglass as wood is porous and can introduce bacteriological infestation

I just installed In-Use Weatherproof covers on all the Ethernet ports in one clinic. Just did this last weeks, so far so good.

It may not help but I know they make right angle RJ45 connectors. I'm sure Amazon would have them.

maybe discuss with charge nurse / clinical manager to reconfigure the chair & dialysis machine put machine in front of Ethernet port instead of chair I know it can be a logistics nightmare but worth the discussion

Lowes or home depot, you can get a plastic cover that is used for electrical outlets that are outside. If they hit that with a chair yes it may crack and break but also they would see/hear and hopefully not do it again

I would say the plastic piece to keep the chair from going down far enough to hit the jack would work but biomed Pete has a good one with the weatherproof cover.
