What could be the reason for formation of bluish green precipitate in acid concentrate canister, which sticks inside along the wall of canister??

years ago I pumped acid out of a barrel into a tank that had turned green ,had to empty tank and flush out loop then disinfect tank ,turned out some one had drooped a small metal wrench in to the barrel .
