The IFU provides the AUTHORITY for operating the machine. As such, the Service manual and TI tell you what must be done. The PM will be performed the same way whether or not the serial number is before or after the specified one. The current IFU has no mention of a two year PM. So right now, you have no permission to perform one because the specification is not available. You have something that says how to, not you are allowed to!

UPDATE: … Based on what I know about the software, there is no real downside to it. That said, a word of caution....Once you even start loading the first USB stick...THERE IS NO GOING BACK! If you decide you don't want the upgrade, it's impossible to reload an earlier version. I can't see this happening but think it's something Braun should have a way around just in case. Chuck There is a very specific reason for this. Machines coming Ex-factory have a Digital Board WITHOUT the USB connector on it. So any reloading of the LLC/LLS software/firmware must be done via the TLC. And so, the USB port on DB version 5 boards that are being used in an upgraded 9.1E software machine must be adjusted to operate in the same manner, permanently.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. If what you say is true, someone has a lot of explaining to do. I've talked to 3 Tech Support people as well as another a little higher on the ladder about 9.1E, specifically about the 24 month PM. NOTHING was said about needing the IFU.
So this statement in the Service Manual doesn't give me "permission"? :
"....the technical safety inspection TSI and the
preventive maintenance PM can be executed every 24 months at the latest."
B. Braun "recommends" upgrading all 9.xx machines to 9.1E...:
"Dialog+ SW 9.1E
We recommend updating all Dialog+ SW 9.xx machines in the market to software 9.1E
during a service job to achieve a uniform software status in the market."
Basically you're saying that by upgrading a machine, it is now unusable until the IFU is released?
That's akin to selling me a house then telling me that I can't live in it! With the lack of communication coming out of Bethlehem to the customers lately, this actually wouldn't surprise me!

I traded emails with another Braun employee who confirmed what SrCusEngr stated about the 24 month PM and IFU. They went on to say that the PM isn't supposed to be discussed with customers. My experience tells me that is not a very well known policy. This also makes me ask a couple more questions...
1. Why can't it be discussed? It was made public in their June 2021 newsletter. 2. Since it was publicly announced...Why aren't customers told about the restricted use?
We will still start installing it widespread in June when we do annual PM's and HOPE Braun gets their crap together in the next 12 months before they are due again.
