I have an old v8 that keeps failing sound led test every 4-5 months. I first went into service mode and tested the led's and speaker, they worked. So back to hemo mode and it passed so I cleared it.
few months later same thing...but this time I just powered it on without going into service mode first and it passed. I repeated power off/on and it passed each time so I put it back on the floor.
It's been pulled again so this is an every few months recurring issue but each time I go look at the machine and power it on it always passes for me.
I've read one possibility is the speakers resistance is off and could be throwing the alert...anything else you folks might know of?

The most common are the Speaker, the connection on the Motherboard, and the FPB. Usually the speaker though.

Did you notice if it happens at the end of the day when the machine has been running for a long time? Next time you test it, if it passes, let it run all day maybe even throw it through a disinfect a few times then test it again at the end of the day. Mine ended up being the motherboard on a few machines. On our third shift days it would not pass the test when they were priming for the 3rd shift. Every time I tried it the next day when I came in, it passed so I would put it back out and it would fail on the next third shift day.

Change the speaker. You can changeit from another machine. I had a few problems with this, only for Evo II SW 9.12.

Thanks for the replies! Yes it's normally pulled after 12. Cool, we are phasing the v8's out so I have some retired ones I'll swap the speaker with.
THANKS AGAIN!

Since it's an older machine and the problem is happening later in the day, you may want to remove the FPB and look at the board. An old seal at the bottom of the touch screen will sometimes allow bleach water to get by and drip down on to the board. I could imagine maybe it dries by the time you get to work on it, but then later the problem happens again. Just a thought.
