We have 36 EVO II's that are hitting their first birthday. While doing the PM's, so far we have found 15 of the machines have the eccentric sleeve in the top SolCart housing broken off. We have no idea of when or how long ago they broke because the staff taught themselves how to work around it to keep from changing the machine. We have about 125 other machines ranging from 2-12 years old and have only replaced 2 of theirs over the years.
Anywho....A couple years ago, Braun did a redesign of the housing which I'm told included it being made from a different plastic. I spoke to one of Braun's tech support guys who said that they have not had any complaints of this. He then looked at how many of them have been being ordered (I don't know what time span he checked) and found that they have been sending out more of them than what he thinks would be normal. An investigation is being opened.
If you are seeing this also (or any trend that doesn't seem right), please report it!

I’ve recently repaired three of them. I thought it was just our staff. I’m guessing it may be a cheaply made part since you’re having the same issues.

Are your machines fairly new?

These happen to be older machines (5 years old I believe). I've never had trouble with this until now. Maybe ours is still staff related.

If anyone is using the oversized cartridges and staff “spin” them to mix the bicarb, you are guaranteed to have a broken swing arm stop!

Agreed but.....You'll never convince me that the same staff, at the same clinic, didn't do the same thing with our previous Version 8's. Nor is it happening at any of our other clinics with older Version 9's.

I've had two I just rebuilt break again already. I've never had this part break unless I tried to use the old screw. Irritating because you can't JUST buy that part, you have to get the WHOLE upper/lower kit. Of course if it didn't break that wouldn't be an issue. I haven't had that issue previously, at first I thought staff were being too rough (very very likely) but then a different clinic and different staff had the same thing a day later...again both had been rebuilt not long ago...and this isn't how they usually break solcarts, usually they slam them down and crack the bottom housing, and those were REALLY old v8's, these were 9.12's

Tell him you seem to be having the same issue as me (use my name) and you want to open a PIR.

And just to be clear, the upper and lower kit are separate but you can’t put the old version “lower” on a new version “upper”. Once the housing itself is changed, you can order the upper and lower individually.

I should have figured something was up when the second one broke in a week. I'll keep 'em from now on, I'll still call and see what they can do though. If nothing else to let them know one other person is seeing this issue.
