I have 23 2008T Machines were software upgraded to BlueStar standard. Two issues that I was able to do before the upgrade that I can't do after the upgrade. First after replacing the diasafe I can test the diasafe without performing the alarms and pht test. After the upgrade i have to do the Alarms test first. Second issue, After the upgrade I can't calibrate the Balancing Chamber anymore. Are you my fellow biomeds having the same issue?

With the Bluestar first after changing diasafe filter you have to put machine in rinse to take out the air. After go in dialysis mode, and turn off the flow and then turn on to 800 and then you can just press diasafe test without performing the alarm and pht test.

You can still calibrate the balance chamber but you have to have your wands plugged into acid and bicarb to do the calibration.

Actually you don't even need to have it in acid and bicarb, if not attached to concentrate you may get a alarm but you can just reset out of it. Really want to blow your mind take a long read of the calibration manual. If there hasn't been a change to the BC, it is permitted to just put in the value written on the BC by the factory because it is considered that the factory is better able to calibrate than us.

I strongly advise doing that, I had co-workers who would change the BC volume just to "fix" the conductivity and temperature. As i set them back to what they should be I watched as the average patients who died per month went down 4x. it was very disappointing that people would do something like that.

This all fine, but what will you do when you find out they no longer write that number on the balance chamber?

This all fine, but what will you do when you find out they no longer write that number on the balance chamber? so, the way i understand it for some folks in tech services and after swapping out quite a few membranes, is to do the b/c test, and using an accurate graduated cylinder, such as a glass graduated cylinder ( Granger PN:# 5YHY4) is best, take the measurement, 10 times, and the average is your new bc value. or, you can just use the old one and hope for the best. your choice.
