I was reuse for about 5 years and when they cut reuse I had no choice but PCT or BMT, I tried PCT but hated the hours and couldn't stand seeing patients deteriorate, after 2 weeks a BMT positioned opened up and they offered me $19.50 to start(may 2016) and by the end of the year they were so impressed how fast I learned and fixed things(because of this forum) they bumped me up to $23.00 but in all fairness I think they under paid me due to lack of experience. I had one clinic and one acute program and live in CA. After a few years the acute cut the contract and offered me a position at $60 an hr if I came aboard, so if you can get in a hospital.

Depending on experience, 55K isn't bad.

Depending on experience, 55K isn't bad. Agreed with Chuck. This game is no different than others: experience pays. The reward for higher pay typically comes from tenure.

I think if biomeds were in short supply as nursing and ccht positions are pay would be better no matter what state or organization you work for.

guest1234 i disagree. i dont know how most people feel on the matter, but my job is one of those "out of sight, out of mind" kinda deals, and anytime my team has an issue with staffing, we cover down and knock it out. we currently have an open position in our workgroup, and we've had exactly 0 applicants, this is in a major area. bmets are in short supply, and my position pays about 20% more than a PCT, and is almost on par with a new LPN. when you work out of sight, you're often not noticed, unless something is broken, of which you have to fix, regardless of WHO's paying, and i don't see that changing ANYTIME soon.

Depending on experience, 55K isn't bad. I would in general agree, but I also see companies fail to pay promising people often. I hate how if someone starts at $20 an hour, in two years youre making maybe $23 an hour, but the same company will hire someone with 2 years experience for $25 an hour. Pay the raises people deserve for the time put in. My company has been good to me but the turnover is stupid. Either they hire someone who can handle the job and they leave for better pay or they reach burn out within a year and leave for better pay because most jobs with this level of responsibility are making 100k. I have no doubt I could leave for manager job somewhere and make much more than I do now but I love my job.

Been having trouble hiring Equipment Techs with B.Braun experience, Maybe we are out of touch with pay and benefits. We start at $28/hr 200 hours PTO a year to start + 40 more after first year, with option to sell back 160 a year. Full healthcare dental vision $28 (Blue cross blue shield, 24 checks a year) a paycheck for individual, around $120 for family max out of pocket is around $50 per visit. Option for 10+ OT hours a week. ON Call Pay, Mileage Shift, Differential on weekends and nights, 12 paid Holidays. 401K match i believe is 6% 33% vested each year. This is in South West (Not California). I know my last Equipment Tech was making 100K+ a Year with bonuses and Covid Pay last 3 years. Retired In January. There are also yearly bonuses, Christmas Bonus, and a Employee appreciation Bonus each year for additional 3-4K. Pay days are every other week 26 a year. This is for coverage of a 20 station unit and 7 acute machines. Also cover On call for 40 station unit every 3rd weekend. On call pay is 100 hour a week 2 dollars a hour to Cover Home unit. We have a separate Facilities Department covering building issues. IS Davita Fresenuis independents Paying better? Not sure if everyone else is having same problem finding staff What is starting Pay in your area for 2 years experienced Tech
Just realized I didn't actually say what I'm making. I was looking on payscale and for someone like me, no cht or ccht, 7 or so years experience, associates of applied sciences, average is 22-28 depending on the city/state. My pay is in that range. Honestly thought it was more than that for average, like thought 28 was average not upper level of pay. Payscale website is pretty accurate on giving average pay for your area, they account for experience, location, education, certifications, etc. Just doing a "quick" search is pretty in depth. That's for the two states I've worked in and the larger cities in those states too which is also where I tend to work. I need to get a ccht, good for bargaining.
28 starting for 2 years experience is actually really high, at least in my area...I didn't search in the south west just texas and louisiana...100k a year!? I should move to your state! XD
