2008T Fresenius blue star machine with 10K hours. When the shunt door gets shut the power on the screen freezes, alarms or shuts off. Anyone ever seen this. Tech support says it may be the display going bad but I don't want to throw parts at it until I know for sure.

I mean it sounds like you have a shorted wire somewhere. Have you checked the wires coming from the shunt door to make sure there is no breaks or tears. I've heard from other biomeds that have accidently put a screw through those wires trying to put the cabinet back together.

I'v certanly done it, and whats worse, is that if you do, your either gonna have to try to patch up the wire, or order a whole new shunt assy, and its a one and done piece.

I recently saw someone pinch the wires between the frame and back panel. If the shielding cracks, could have an insta-short when the shunt door signal is (de)activated?

If the shielding cracks, could have an insta-short when the shunt door signal is (de)activated? id say you *might* get a short, but its pretty low voltage, esp with short and thin wire. my best guess would be just the wire breaking apart as a more likely result, that's what ended up happening to the two i had to fix. if you cant get a shunt assy, id just strip it down a little, twist them together, give it a touch of soldier, and wrap some electrical tape until you can swap it out. just my 3 cents. inflation, its happening everywhere.
