Dear everyone,
We found some equipment including dialysis machine had developed cracks due to the wipes we are using in the hospitals and units.
Some wipes involved are Clinell and V-wipes .other wipes are currently under investigation.
We have to use above wipes due to Covid and infection control.
Does anyone has same issue with cracks appearing on the machine?
Thank you

The only problems we've had was with sodium hypochlorite based wipes that tore up the paint on the machine not to mention clouding the touch screens. I couldn't find much information on Clinell or V-Wipes but V-Wipes sound to be 70% ethanol based which I don't think will damage the machine. Clinell looks to have 70% ethanol as well as CHG. I don't know how machines will react to CHG.

Thank you so much for the information, I found out that V-wipes that being used is hospital grade thus contain < 10% benzalkonium chloride instead of < 10% ethanol that in V-wipes normal grade.
Clinell wipe contains about 0.6% benzalkonium chloride, 0.6% -Phenoxyethanol and 0.6% Didecyldimethyl ammonium chloride.
We think those *.* chloride is the main cause.

These are the active ingredients in our wipes that we have been using for about 10 years without a problem.
N-Alkyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride / N-Alkyl Dimethyl Ethylbenzyl Ammonium Chloride / Isopropyl Alcohol

We use Virex and have had our machines for 16 years. No issues with the screen but had some paint chip off but they are places on corners and such so I would chalk that up to age. The contact time is 10 minutes so not as friendly as wipes with like a 2 minute contact time.
