I wanted to get thoughts on the Mesa Phoenix Meter XL meter modules. I had a couple of modules not calibrating correctly in the past couple of months. I have gone through several steps including calibration with only the 14 and 7.0 solutions separately (we normally use the 14/7 solutions on a daily basis), fill the module with neocare, cap it off and let it set overnight, reset the meter to factory settings and a couple of other things to fix the problem with no luck. I have contacted Mesa and they have been helpful but haven't really offered any solutions. I purchased a module in June and I am now having problems with the ph not calibrating. I wanted to see if anyone has had this type of issues. Also I wanted know how other people are dealing with "back up modules" when not being used unless a meter goes bad. So if I buy a module in May and it doesn't get used throughout the year. Why does it need to be discarded since it is past the expiration date on the module. Even if the module was not used through the year. Thank you for your thoughts.

Do you expel the bulk of the Neocare and draw in air before you cap it for the night? I believe that helps. Sounds to me like you are doing everything perfectly.

biomedfossil Honestly, I'd just buy 3 D6 meters for your clinic and be done with it. its 36-00D6-0 in SAP, you *could* try ordering them one at a time and see if it slides by ( its like 1200 ea or so, so it might flag and you gotta do a PO order and get it signed off, BUT it might go through....)

The meter that has the issue, have you tried a known working module from another meter? It could be the meter itself is not good. Also Mesa would offer a refund of some sort based on how old the module was, but it was arbitrary depending who answered the phone.
Mesa also does not do repairs on the meter itself, so you have to buy an entirely new meter. Mesa will gladly let you ship the non functioning meter to them, so they can refurbish it and then resell it. Once i found this out, i dropped them as a vendor.
Went with the Myron L D6.
Also you have to replace the modules, 3 module replacements = 1 D6 meter that does not need that crap

I am looking to just change over to the D6. Can someone give me a run down of it's features and daily/weekly checks (Fresenius). After all I have been through with these Phoenix XL modules. I had another problem yesterday but the problem was the staff. I received a call from my clinic and both meters aren't calibrating. I went up and the cond was at 15.3 and ph at 4.3. I tried everything Mesa has told me to possibly fix the issue with no luck. I asked the opener if anything seemed strange with the meters. She said when neocare is in the syringe is slides easy with no resistance. When she checked it yesterday the syringe was jerky and hard to pull back. So my thinking the closer didn't even rinse or pull neocare in the meter. It looks like another 700.00 or something different.

biomedfossil *Salesman Voice* The Myron L of D-6 Digital Dialysate Meter™ is capable of measuring Conductivity, TDS, Resistivity, pH, ORP mV and ppm Free Chlorine as well as Temperature. Its applications include, but are not limited to, Dialysate Preparation, Water Treatment for Hemodialysis, System Maintenance, Equipment Calibration, Wastewater Management. For my clinic, we have daily calibrations that are done by the openers which are based on the Myron L D6 Meter Calibration Form Instructions (77027_0) in policy tech, in accordance with the Myron IFU included in the Operation Manual . For closers, its just making sure the storage solution is in the PH well, and both opener and closers have tasks to complete and sign off in TMS. There’s some compliance training stuff you gotta have you water peeps signed off on for Corp and state, but nothing major. A monthly check is in the PM section of TMS for me to calibrate it and change the Battery if the BATT LOW sign is on ( 9V), otherwise, it’s a pretty rugged and hassle free meter. To calibrate you will need to order the following: ITEM NAME | SAP PN: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- STANDARD SOLUTION 14.0MS 32OZ | 24-0027-1 STANDARD SOLUTION 10.00pH 16OZ | 24-0034-1 STANDARD SOLUTION 7.00pH 32OZ | 24-0031-1 STANDARD SOLUTION 4.00pH 16OZ | 24-0032-1 TDS Solution 3000 ppm (3 BO MIN ) | 24-0427-6 PH SENSOR STORE SOL (5 BO MIN) | 24-0SS2-0

biomedfossil if you do decide to go the D6 route, id suggest ordering two of the PH cell's ( sap item number 36-0RPR-0 ). you have to make sure to keep the storage solution in the ph cell after it's done being used, if it dries out it can damage it( or you can boil salt water, pour it in it, and try to fix it...not kidding, that's what they say to do..) so with new meters there might be some growing pains, but thankfully their easy to swap out.

also if you have a spare backup ld 6 be sure to check the ph storage solution in it monthly also the ph electrodes need to have storage solution in them if they are not used for 1 hour ps get the tiny bottles as sthey have no expiration date order like 20 at a time

How about not worrying about the pH probe at all and use test strips?

its about that much if i order it through sap through fresenius. the 2400 is prob the price of the one with the bluetooth stuff. the company prob also has a deal w/ myron for bulk quantity, which translates to lower cost-per-unit, but thats just speculation on my part.

I just order 4 and they didn’t request a PO. Kinda surprised me.
