What would cause a machine to leak a lot at the end of the Citric thermal cycle

Is this a Version 9 machine? In the last 12 months we've probably changed a dozen or more upline tank lids. They developed tiny cracks in them and only leak during citric/thermal.

Besides the warning from Chuck about the V9 Water Block Lids (you did report a complaint to our quality control, didn't you Chuck), another cause for 'leaking' (you did not specify how the machine was leaking) is out the drain line. This is usually caused by someone replacing the small piece of silicone tubing (between the straw and the connector) with a piece of the wrong outside diameter. During disinfection, an oversized tubing segment will swell up and restrict the flow through the wand holders. This places a back pressure on RVDA, causing it to open and leak out the disinfectant solution. As it leaks out, VVBE opens to raise the water level and ends up diluting the fluid to the point where it alarms LF too low.

My guys have just been tossing them in the trash but have been asked to save the next one. I know Germany is going to want to see it.

I started seeing that Problem about three years ago. I took pics and sent them in with the CIR so Germany could see where it was coming from without having the part. The more they hear of it they might redesign the lid to improve its reliability. Then again, if it fails every 4~5 years.....?

This problem usually happens if there is something wrong with the pumps. Please check the FPA and FPE for strength. This can be done by doing the calibration of the RVFPE and RVFPA. If you are not able to solve the problem, you should replace the FPE pump. If this still doesn't help, you can try to replace the FPA as well. Then the problem should be solved.

earlier v9's had a design flaw; the incoming water port was directly over the overflow port and would cause water to leak out the overflow port during disinfect. They redesigned the tanks later so the ports were offset. the techs I talked to just clamp the overflow port :\ not really the best solution but several of mine have this "fix" and it worked

I can't believe Germany redesigned the tank and not the Lids. The lid would have been so much easier. If only someone from over there would listen once in a while!

Germans are as bad as Swedes....If it's not their idea it's a bad one!

usually it is a weak FPE that leads to the overflow of approximately.100ml from the Upline Tank
Please change the FPE Pump check the result. If you have a weak FPE the PDA pressure drop down to -500 mmHg and a lot of air is visible in the system.
Failure pattern is the reduced pumped pump output (FPE) only when the machine is hot. It is enough to change the pumpbody.
The resulting air blocks the DF filter. The consequence of the switching flow paths and the prevailing pressure differences, spontaneous massive rinsing processes into the flow tank.Usually this problem comes along with VBICP test not ok

Here are pictures of a cracked lid like I was talking about. It is from a Version 9 EVO I with 17K hours. All of the cracked lids have been from Version 9's but I don't know if they have all been EVO I's or not. Of all the Version 8's we've had, not a single cracked lid. I will be calling Bethlehem.

Chuck, Version 8's have a completely different water block/upline tank. And for a minute, I was wondering how you got my photos!!

When I sent the photos to Rob, he sounded like he had never heard of the issue before (disturbing because that was usually what I heard from Fresenius when reporting chronic problems). My guys tell me the cracks are always in the same place.
