Thought it was something to do with PEX being allowed in certain places as opposed to PTFE, something like that. Against my wishes they pushed PEX on our construction folks even though we specifically stated stainless steel only.

Is the Teflon loop a little less expensive than the PEX? I would think a stainless steel loop would be incredibly expensive.

The PEX used with CWP loops is not something you would get from Home Depot. It is specifically designed for use with CWP in Europe and is 25mm. It’s called CleanPex and has a thicker wall and smoother bore made by Wirsbi/Uponor. Cleanpex has a higher heat/temperature rating than Teflon and is less expensive. Teflon or PTFE tubing is expensive and can easily kink during installation. I always preferred PEX, even though it’s a pain to unroll and work with.
