We use Rockwell for our acid concentrate. The major reason is they pump-off so we not only don’t have to do it but, we also don’t have to store the drums till they are picked up.
This past summer, they started delivering to our most remote clinic (3.5 hours away) using a common carrier instead of their own truck and driver. This means that we have to do the pump-off and store the empties for a month or more until they contract someone to pick them up. Luckily we can keep the empties outside at this clinic.
This week, they used a common carrier for another clinic. This clinic is only 1.5 hours away but, there is no place inside the building to store the empties. There not only is there nowhere outside to store them, there is a county ordinance about outside storage (we were cited for having 2 empty pallets outside). After pumping, my tech had to load the empties in his truck and bring them to another clinic to wait for pick up.
Is anyone else using Rockwell having similar issues?

When we signed contract- we were told if drums or pallets were not returned we will be charged $25 a piece. I told them too bad I have no room- they are going outside and if people take them that's on them or I charge them for storage. I give some to patients that ask- I never get my delivery on the scheduled day- sometimes its Rockwell or other carrier.

We have been having that exact same issue for quite some time. One of the biggest issues WE had was that the carriers are not required to pick up empties (we don't have them pump). Two of our clinics ended up with over 3 dozen barrels each by the time they sent a truck out to collect them. I told their rep pretty much the same as above...come get em or they are going outside. And people LOVE those things in this area! Did you know that you can make a kick-@$$ ice fishing caddy out of them? lol
Oh, and the fact that orders are due Mondays and HISTORICALLY they delivered the following Monday. Now, they show up whenever and cover it by the statement that they guarantee a delivery WEEK, not a particular DAY. Really makes planning your orders fun.
I miss the good old days (less than a year ago) where we had the SAME driver every delivery, he delivered the SAME day each week and left everything neat, clean and organized. There's a phrase for that...hmmm, err...oh yeah! CUSTOMER SERVICE! Must have been a casualty of Covid.

Ah, Customer Service, the birth child of "inquiry into the nature and causes of the wealth of nations", and one the fundamental tenets of capitalism. it's sad how far we've fallen from actually treating people in decent ways. hell, you cant even go to micky d's these days without someone with an attitude.

YES! They keep using a third party. last time the dude was in sweatpants and sandals!! he couldn't use the electric forklift, and he is always leaving their dry acid on the dock, a pallet filled 6 feet tall with boxes of dry acid and he just leaves it on the dock! he also backed into the building and knocked some city cylindrical electrical box ****eyed...he can't pump either and my clinic loves to wait till we're almost out of the most used acid to order so we NEED it pumped asap and I'm always at one of my other FIVE clinics.
oh yeah, had to add this after reading responses, yeah sometimes he won't pick up the empties either! and we end up with like 5+ empty 55 gal drums, so we had like 12 empties
we have complained to the company and reminded them of what our contract says, that THEY deliver AND pump, and we complained after that when this moron damaged the building.
they keep using him *sigh
