I have a version 9 machine that will not open VBICP when a solcart cartridge is installed. This in turn causes a Bicarbonate Cartridge not Connected Correctly alarm. Machine will open and close VBICP just fine manually in test mode 1.23. I’ve checked for flow from bottom solcart arm to the y connector and it is good. I’ve tried both Digital and Valves boards and still have the problem. Any ideas?

Does the cartridge fill initially? Also- check the Y connector to make sure it doesn't have a restriction

Yes, fills completely. And flow through both legs of the Y connector too. Just seems as though VBICP is not being commanded to open. Watched overview screen and vbicp itself for ten minutes after solcart install and it won’t open.

When I say flow at the y connector, I mean when tubing is pulled off there is flow through the y legs. Otherwise there is no movement in the tubing from lower solcart arm when the tubing is connected.

Did you test the valve in TSM? Are you getting voltage to the valve

Yes. Valve opens and closes in TSM test 1.23 also plunger moves back and forth.

The VBICP opens after the cartridge were filled and shortly before the bicarbonate pump starts running to flush the first batch of bicarbonate solution. A precondition is that the balance chamber is running and flow is stabilized.
Usually the problem is caused by a problem with the balance chamber initialization, e.g. due to air in the system or a blocked filter on machines with DF filter or HDF online. Also a worn out FPE can be the cause.

Yes I have seen Membrane Moving alarms sometimes after start up. This may be causing my problem.

How many hours do you have on FPE/FPA pumps? Do you see any air in the balance chamber tubing? Are you sure the DF filter is not air locked (remove the top blue coupling and liquid should flow out immediately. If air then liquid, it was air locked).

So I got the machine up and going finally. Thinking possibly a weak FPE, I changed it out without any success. Still have Membrane Moving alarms and Bicarbonate Cartridge Not Connected Correctly. I then watched the test 1.19 screen and noticed the diaphragms not moving all the way on the clean side. I now figured maybe membranes. Changed out both membranes that had tears. Thinking success, I ran DFS pressure test and it fails. UF pump body not driving down the PDA pressure fast enough. Replaced UF Pump Body and all alarms solved. Thanks to all who have replied with help.

When you have multiple problems with different causes it's tough I don't care who you are. I would chalk that one up as a big win!
