If you work for Fresenius, probably no. Look how long it took us to get approval to use keyboard and screen protectors.

Your not changing the function of how the machine works, just cosmetics, so probably not voiding anything. Hell i was thinking about trying to 3d print one of these.

you can also use a plastic pipe cut down the middle to cover the motors

That was my exact argument when I got a couple of keyboard protectors from Medical Solutions and put them on a couple of machines to do my own beta testing. I figured if they were available through R2P, they were approved. 2 weeks later, a visit from my RTOM, and an email from Tech Services, I removed them and waited for their approval. Just not worth the hassle... |

I am with Fresenius, and that is my fear.
H&S has them 10 total (5Pairs) for about $90. I sent this up the chain. I will report back when I find out. even if it takes a few years.

Funny thing, a couple years later, both keyboard and screen protectors are authorized. |

My personal opinion on this If you do the maintenance properly or maybe go above and beyond like changing the check valves every 6 months instead of annually you will not have as many issues with a leaky check valve.. I've been in this business for a very long long time.. i follow this practice and I've never had to replace a flow pump deair pump motor because of them getting wet from a broken check valve .. using this device in my humble opinion makes one less apt to need to change the check valves as scheduled because it can no longer damage the motors ..

I've been in this business for a very long long time.. i follow this practice and I've never had to replace a flow pump deair pump motor because of them getting wet from a broken check valve .. using this device in my humble opinion makes one less apt to need to change the check valves as scheduled because it can no longer damage the motors .. Unfortunately the check valves are now failing at an uncontrolled rate! I have many that have failed 1 month after installation. |

And you're advocating changing them every 6 months? #1 - That's a waste of money not to mention time. #2 - From what I've read for years on RenalWeb as well as experienced when we had Fresenius machines is....the only thing reliable about the check valves is that they are going to fail....The only unknown is how quickly. IMHO, these shields are a relatively inexpensive insurance policy against a very costly repair. |
